Dengue fever cases are on the rise in Pakistan

Dengue has become prevalent in Pakistan with yearly recurrence.

It spreads via a mosquito, which is responsible for the transmission of the pathogen dengue.

The above picture depicts patients affected by dengue fever as of September 27, 2021. Patients suffering are treated in the hospitals of Peshawar under the mosquito net. Peshawar is the capital of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the northwest of Pakistan.

For many years Dengue has been commonly found at an alarming rate within Pakistan. It is spreading at a rapid pace.

Researchers within Pakistan are reviewing and working to determine the root cause of dengue virus spread. The researchers has to formulate a strategy to meet its challenges and control its spread. 

Maximum cases of Dengue fever were from eastern Punjab. The fear is that the patients will rise and can be an outbreak. The total tally of dengue fever cases this year has surged to 1,082 in the province, said the health department.

One of the family members in Lahore I know, most of the members are suffering from Dengue fever. One of the member platelet counts were significantly low; treated and now showing signs of recovery, but weakness persists—five more members of the family who were also victims are now recovering.

Similarly, more than 800 dengue fever cases were detected in the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province last month.  The area added several new patients during the previous 24 hours, said the KP health department.

Ninety cases were received and treated with dengue fever in Punjab.  Mostly they were from eastern Punjab; as of today. Most patients are from Lahore city, the capital of Punjab. The health authorities of Punjab reported this. They also said that in a total count of dengue fever reported is 1082 in the province  

Notably, the maximum number of cases reported and treated are from the capital city in both provinces.

Looking at the alarming spread of dengue fever cases in both provincial capital cities, the local health department, in collaboration with district administration, has started fumigation in the towns and the awareness campaigns.

In the meantime, in Islamabad, the country’s capital city, 32 cases of Dengue fever were reported in the past 24 hours. They were taking the toll to 177 during this year in the Federal capital city. As per information provided by the Health Authorities of the Federal capital, they are actively working to make out COVID-19 and Dengue virus challenges.
